By the end of 2024, the annual production capacity of the national cast iron manhole cover industry reached 18.5 million tons. Among them, 23 leading enterprises with an annual production capacity of over 100,000 tons accounted for 22.2% of the market share, an increase of 5.8 percentage points compared to 2020. Under the dual pressure of environmental regulations and standard upgrades, over 180 small-scale foundries were shut down and consolidated across the country in 2023, accelerating the industry's transformation towards scale and green development. The Yangtze River Delta region, with a production capacity share of 38.9% and a cluster of 67 national-level green factories, has become the core production base for high-end ductile iron manhole covers. Meanwhile, central and western provinces have taken advantage of their cost benefits to absorb the industrial relocation from the east, forming a regional layout characterized by "strong east, westward expansion, and central rise".
